Christmas Table Floral Design Workshop

Beginners and Florists are welcome to this Flower Workshop.
You will spend your time learning all the different shapes of Table Design and how to clean, treat and prepare your flowers and foliage ready to arrange in your bowl or pot.
Colours are usually Christmas colours: reds, burgundy, white, silver, gold, green and white
Christmas decorations are often added to give your designs the festive look; candles, gumnuts, pinecones, sprayed silver/gold gum leaves and holly give that touch of Christmas.
Special Christmas flowers are Christmas Bells, Christmas Bush, Holly, all varieties of Gum, both green and silver. Other flowers used are roses, Oriental lilies, Calla Lilies, orchids, especially the small Spider Orchids (red, green, yellow Dancing Ladies, white dendrobium and most Vanda Orchids which come in Red, Yellow, Hot Pink, Purple and green – grown especially for the Commercial market. Peony Roses are popular although they don’t last long in the heat.
Our Flower Workshops are very informative and due to our “private” classes your teacher will answer all your questions and give you that personal attention you need to gain skills, expertise, knowledge and confidence.

Duration: 3 hrs | 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m – 2 designs
Duration: 5 hrs | 10.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m – 3 designs ( 30 mins lunch break included)

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to class?

Layers in cooler weather and casual, comfortable clothing (not tight) – shoes must be enclosed, no sandals.

Do I need experience to enrol in an Advanced Course?

Yes, you need to complete our Commercial Floristry Certificate first.

What happens if I miss any classes?

Classes may be made up at a time offered to you by the Academy.

Do I bring my own lunch?

Yes, Salads or Sandwiches are best.

Is there somewhere I can get a coffee and lunch nearby?

No time for that, please organise it the night before class.

Do you provide Coffee, tea and water?

Yes, we do.

What facilities are at Wisemans Ferry Village?

Petrol station, Post Office, Café, Supermarket, Bowling Club and Wisemans Ferry Hotel.

How do I get to Wisemans Ferry and how long does it take?

No public transport here, car/drive, it is 30 mins from Dural, 1 hour from Central Coast and 1 hour from Sydney Harbour Bridge via M2.

Do you have more info about the accommodation for Intensive Course?

Accommodation is at the Forgotten Valley Retreat which is a few doors away. Cost is from $130* per night, mention Suzanne King, Academy of Floral Art and speak to Sharni, I will send you her email.

Academy Rules and Regulations

We accept payment by Direct Deposit, or Cash to enrol.
The deposit is half your Course cost and payable upon booking your Course. It is not refundable due to our small classes. Final payment must be made 1 month prior to commencement date. Receipts will be sent to you once payment is viewed in our bank account.
Should you injure yourself while attending classes at the Academy of Floral Art, we do not accept responsibility for any injury or damages to personal property. Please Note: Always make sure you can see all your fingers before cutting stems or anything, never glance up while cutting.
Should you become sick with perhaps, covid, or other illness, please advise us immediately. Flowers must be cancelled within 24 hours prior to your absence and must be paid for again upon your return.
Flowers may be taken home at the end of each day or at the end of each week. Please bring a couple of shallow boxes and towels to keep your car seats dry.
Should you wish to attend your course/workshop with a friend or relative please let us know to ensure you are placed in the same class.

Please bring an A4 notebook with lines, a pen and pencil/rubber; hand towel, hand sanitiser is provided here, camera or iPad/iPhone to take photos of each design. Always make sure your background is blank,(no clutter); take more photos at home once the flowers open/bloom.
Certificates will be issued on the last day of your Course.
