Dinner Table Floral Design Workshop

This Flower Workshop is for Advanced Students or Florists only and the designs are quite large, we will be working with several varieties of both fresh, cut flowers and Natives.
You will be learning how to secure them in the oasis, which is important to ensure they don’t move during transportation and placement.
You will gain confidence, technical ability and skills in this Flower Workshop which will assist you to understand such arrangements for all future functions.
An example of Lunch Table Designs on this level, may be an order of 120 tables for a Football Grand Final Luncheon, planning ahead is vital to know how to go about this and stay calm.
You will learn, how to calculate the number of flowers and bunches you will need, you also learn how many flowers are in a bunch, some may have 5, some 10, the same with foliage.
You will learn how to speed up the “basing up” of the large numbers of containers, well before the date, the flowers would be added the night and morning before the event, depending on how long you have estimated it will take. Also the flowers must be very fresh.
With careful planning, this Flower Workshop may give you the confidence and assertiveness to do the entire function yourself, thus saving you paying out wages to an assistant.
Focus on detail is essential and designing your arrangements through visualisation, imagination and careful planning.

What should I wear to class?

Layers in cooler weather and casual, comfortable clothing (not tight) – shoes must be enclosed, no sandals.

Do I need experience to enrol in an Advanced Course?

Yes, you need to complete our Commercial Floristry Certificate first.

What happens if I miss any classes?

Classes may be made up at a time offered to you by the Academy.

Do I bring my own lunch?

Yes, Salads or Sandwiches are best.

Is there somewhere I can get a coffee and lunch nearby?

No time for that, please organise it the night before class.

Do you provide Coffee, tea and water?

Yes, we do.

What facilities are at Wisemans Ferry Village?

Petrol station, Post Office, Café, Supermarket, Bowling Club and Wisemans Ferry Hotel.

How do I get to Wisemans Ferry and how long does it take?

No public transport here, car/drive, it is 30 mins from Dural, 1 hour from Central Coast and 1 hour from Sydney Harbour Bridge via M2.

Do you have more info about the accommodation for Intensive Course?

Accommodation is at the Forgotten Valley Retreat which is a few doors away. Cost is from $130* per night, mention Suzanne King, Academy of Floral Art and speak to Sharni, I will send you her email.

Academy Rules and Regulations

We accept payment by Direct Deposit, or Cash to enrol.
The deposit is half your Course cost and payable upon booking your Course. It is not refundable due to our small classes. Final payment must be made 1 month prior to commencement date. Receipts will be sent to you once payment is viewed in our bank account.
Should you injure yourself while attending classes at the Academy of Floral Art, we do not accept responsibility for any injury or damages to personal property. Please Note: Always make sure you can see all your fingers before cutting stems or anything, never glance up while cutting.
Should you become sick with perhaps, covid, or other illness, please advise us immediately. Flowers must be cancelled within 24 hours prior to your absence and must be paid for again upon your return.
Flowers may be taken home at the end of each day or at the end of each week. Please bring a couple of shallow boxes and towels to keep your car seats dry.
Should you wish to attend your course/workshop with a friend or relative please let us know to ensure you are placed in the same class.

Please bring an A4 notebook with lines, a pen and pencil/rubber; hand towel, hand sanitiser is provided here, camera or iPad/iPhone to take photos of each design. Always make sure your background is blank,(no clutter); take more photos at home once the flowers open/bloom.
Certificates will be issued on the last day of your Course.
